How to compress an image online

Image compression removes data your eye barely notices — subtle colour steps, fine noise — so the file gets much smaller while the picture looks the same. It is the right tool when the dimensions are already fine and you just need a lighter file: faster-loading web pages, smaller email attachments, or a photo that fits an upload limit.
Use the quality slider for a quick "good enough" reduction, or switch to target size and type the exact number the situation calls for. How do I compress an image to under 100 KB?
Switch to "target size", type 100 KB, and the tool lowers the quality just enough to hit it while keeping the image as sharp as possible.
Does compressing change the width and height?
No — dimensions stay the same by default. Only the amount of data used to store the image goes down. To change dimensions too, use Resize Image.
How do I compress a JPEG without losing quality?
There is always some loss when a JPEG gets smaller, but at 70–80% quality it is invisible in normal viewing. The tool defaults to a safe level.
Can I compress PNG images?
Yes. Because PNG is lossless, the tool converts it to WebP (or JPG) to actually reduce the size while keeping it crisp.
