How to use & FAQ

How to resize an image online

A simple image resizer: resize a JPG, PNG or WebP to exact pixels, to centimetres or inches for print, by a percentage, or to a target file size in KB or MB. Free, no sign-up, no watermark, and no upload — the resize runs on your device.

A resized image is useful in dozens of places: a photo that fits a website banner, a picture small enough to email, a display picture cropped to a square, or an ID photo that must be under a strict KB limit for an online form. This tool covers all of them in one place — type the width and height you need, drag a percentage slider, or switch to "target size" and let the tool pick the dimensions and quality that land just under the number you want.

When the target is small (say "under 50 KB" for a government portal) lowering quality alone often is not enough, so the tool scales the picture down just enough to reach the size and tells you the new dimensions. When the target is comfortable it keeps the full resolution and only trims quality. You can also choose the output format — JPG, JPEG, PNG, WebP or a single-page PDF.

Supported input formats are JPG, JPEG, PNG and WebP. The file is processed on your own device and never uploaded to a server. If you also want to keep the same dimensions and only shrink the file, use Compress Image instead; to make a small photo meet a minimum size, use Increase Image Size.

Steps

  1. Open the Resize Image tool and drop in your photo (or click to browse).
  2. Enter a new width or height in pixels, drag the percentage slider, or type a target file size in KB / MB.
  3. Keep "lock aspect ratio" on so the image is not stretched, and pick an output format.
  4. Click Resize, then Download to save the new image.

Frequently asked questions

How do I resize an image to a specific size in KB?

Switch to the "File size" option, type the size you need (for example 50 KB), and the tool lowers the quality — and, if needed, the dimensions — until the file lands at or just under that size.

Can I resize an image in cm or inches?

Yes. In Dimensions, switch the unit to cm, mm or inch and type the size — for example 3.5 × 4.5 cm. It is converted to pixels at the DPI you choose (300 DPI is print quality, so 3.5 × 4.5 cm becomes 413 × 531 px), and the DPI is saved in the JPG so it prints at that size.

Can I resize an image to 50 KB, 100 KB or 200 KB?

Yes — choose "File size" and type the KB (or MB) you need. There are also one-click pages for common sizes: compress image to 20 KB, 50 KB, 100 KB and 200 KB.

Can I resize an image in MB?

Yes. In "File size", switch the unit from KB to MB — useful when a site asks for a photo under 1 MB or 2 MB.

Can I bulk resize images?

Yes. Drop several images at once and resize them all together — to the same file size, a percentage, or a maximum width and height — then download them as one ZIP.

Is this like the Pi7 image resizer?

It does the same kind of job — resizing and compressing photos in your browser — and adds cm / inch sizing with DPI, exact KB targets and background removal. FileQuick is independent and not affiliated with Pi7.

Will resizing reduce image quality?

Making an image smaller keeps it sharp. Enlarging a small image past its real resolution looks soft — use the Image Upscaler for that.

Can I resize an image without losing quality?

Downscaling to reasonable dimensions is effectively lossless to the eye. Keep the aspect ratio locked and avoid over-compressing and the result stays clean.

Which formats can I resize?

JPG, JPEG, PNG and WebP images. You can save the result as JPG, PNG, WebP or a one-page PDF.

Is my photo uploaded to a server?

No. The file is processed on your own device and never uploaded to a server.
